was discharged in a bankruptcy right before Old Republic bought the loan. What
they bought was nothing because the seller was no longer liable for the debt.
Did Old Republic care? Oh hell no. They wanted $8,000 more than the Greentree Short
Sale negotiator was willing to give. We asked the Greentree Short
Sale negotiator if the buyer could contribute to the Old
Republic second and the Greentree Short
Sale negotiator told us
absolutely not. Great – now what do we do. Did I also tell you we had already
had two foreclosure auction dates postponed and we weren’t getting a third
chance?
We escalated the heck
out the file to any and every one who would listen. At Old Republic NO ONE
would listen and after a month of back and forth the only thing we were closer
to was foreclosure.
As fate would have it
cooler heads finally prevailed and the Greentree Short
Sale negotiator allowed the buyer to contribute to the Old
Republic second to get the lien released and allow the Greentree Short
Sale to close. Talk about a battle. To be honest I was
beginning to believe we were not going to get that one closed – but we did!
Perseverance paid off in spades
